According to The Pulse Of Radio, SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell says in a new video interview with RollingStone.com that the band’s first album in almost 16 years is “mostly done” and that it feels like the band “haven’t missed a beat.” Describing the “personality” of the new disc, Cornell said, “It’s very warm to me and adventurous like all our albums were. It doesn’t sound like a throwback to any previous period and we’re definitely approaching songs in different ways than we’ve done… but we always did that from album to album so it feels like the genuine next step to me. It doesn’t feel nostalgic, it feels forward.” Continue Reading

KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has been making music on Apple‘s Mac computers for years, and so The Pulse Of Radio asked him for his thoughts on the passing of Apple‘s visionary co-founder Steve Jobs, who died on Wednesday (October 5) at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer.
Davis said about the technology pioneer:
“He took a company that basically was bankrupt and turned it around and made it a lifestyle, plain and simple. I think the guy was a genius. And then I love his products. I’m not an iPhone user, I hate iPhones, but I use my iPad and my iPod Touch, all my producing and recording is done on my Macs . . . all this stuff he made is amazing. I’m bummed that he died and, you know, my heart goes out to his family and Apple, and I hope that they can carry on his legacy.” Continue Reading

Florida-based guitarist-turned-producer James Murphy, who is best known for his guitar work with TESTAMENT, DEATH, OBITUARY, CANCER and DISINCARNATE, has posted the following message on his Facebook page:
“Some troubling news for me in the last couple days. The bloodwork that was done recently revealed that the hormone indicator for the tumor I battled and defeated nine years ago is now 20 times higher than the low it reached as recently as one year ago. This could be indicative of a recurrence. Next step is an MRI, scheduled for the 11th of this month, to determine how much the tumor has grown. I am keeping a positive attitude about it and just moving forward.” Continue Reading
Nina Clarke and Michael de Jager of Guitarist TV recently conducted an interview with original JUDAS PRIEST singer Al Atkins. You can now watch the entire 30-minute chat below.
Atkins is the co-writer of several PRIEST songs which are included on the band’s first two albums, “Rocka Rolla” and “Sad Wings of Destiny“, both of which eventually went gold. Atkins co-penned the heavy metal classic “Victim of Changes“, which was a combination of Rob Halford‘s song “Red Light Lady” and Atkins‘ own “Whiskey Woman“. He also co-wrote “Winter“, “Never Satisfied“, “Dreamer Deceiver” and “Caviar and Meths“. Continue Reading
Jay Nanda of the San Antonio Metal Music Examiner recently conducted an interview with ’80s hard rock queen Lita Ford. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: What’s the latest with your new album, and how does it differ from “Wicked Wonderland” and some of the earlier records?
Lita: Well, I don’t consider “Wicked Wonderland” a Lita Ford record, but it differs from the others because it’s dark. It’s dark and nasty. It’s sexy! That part doesn’t differ much. Sexy is always there. I love a good sexy song! But it’s from the heart. It’s almost a true story. I haven’t written in so long. We’re producing the album at Gary Hoey‘s studios. Do you know Gary? According to People.com, Ozzy Osbourne‘s wife/manager Sharon admitted on her daytime talk show “The Talk” on Thursday, October 6 (local time) that she took a break from the program to deal with a problem with her breast implants.
“One morning I woke up and one of my boobies was kind of much longer than the other … So I’m thinking, this isn’t right,” Sharon said.
Her surgeon told her one of her implants had “leaked into the wall of my stomach,” so she had them removed and has gone back to her natural assets. Continue Reading
The president of Poland‘s public TV broadcaster TVP has asked the producer of the Polish version of the hit singing competition “The Voice Of Poland” to provide a detailed explanation for the “provocative behavior” of one of the show’s judges, BEHEMOTH frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski.
According to reports in the Polish media, Nergal made a special guest appearance during the October 1 performance by the Polish band TIMES NEW ROMAN at the Hydrozagadka club in Warsaw (see video below). A couple of the TIMES NEW ROMAN members turned up on stage in wheelchairs, wearing hospital pajamas and accompanied by nurses. A stage announcer proceeded to inform the audience that the musicians were physically unable to play the show unless they were “healed.” At that point, Nergal appeared on stage dressed as a clergyman, wearing a sash around his neck resembling a stole (a liturgical vestment of various Christian denominations, particularly within the Catholic Church and among the various Protestant communions of Anglicanism and Lutheranism). He then laid his hands on the heads of the musicians and “healed” them, making it possible for them to continue the concert. Continue Reading
During a brand new interview with OC Weekly, Duff McKagan (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N’ ROSES, DUFF MCKAGAN’S LOADED) was asked about how the search for a new VELVET REVOLVER lead singer is going more than three years since the band parted ways with Scott Weiland.
“Slash [VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist] and I played in New York a couple weeks ago [as part of the Road Recovery benefit concert] and Matt Sorum [VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N’ ROSES drummer] was there,” Duff replied. “There was a singer there [possibly referring to Jimmy Gnecco of OURS. — Ed.] we might write some songs with.” Continue Reading
During an audience question-and-answer session this past weekend at Rockmässan in Malmö, Sweden, former GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke was asked if he would consider taking part in a GN’R reunion if he were to be offered the opportunity (see video below). “I’ve always said if it’s really a real reunion where [guitarist] Slash is involved, then I would do it, but I probably feel the same that you guys feel,” Gilby replied. “I think most people wanna see the original five [members] — with Izzy [Stradlin, guitar] and Steven [Adler, drums] — and I agree; that was a great band. But if they want other people — myself and Matt [Sorum, drums], then I would do it. But I would only do it if Slash was involved.” Continue Reading
